How many mg of hydroxyapatite are in chewing gum? We checked 9 brands.
Seven of the nine hydroxyapatite gum brands on the market will not tell you how much of the headline ingredient is in a piece. Here is the full table, the two numbers that do exist, and how to check any brand yourself in sixty seconds.
As of August 22, 2026, only 2 of 9 hydroxyapatite gum brands publish a per-piece dose: Minvelle, 5.7 mg nano-hydroxyapatite per 1.9 g piece, and Crait, 70 mg non-nano hydroxyapatite per piece of gum. The two numbers are not directly comparable, nano and non-nano are different particle classes. The other seven brands, Enamio, Underbrush, Dentagum, CaviChew, VanMan, Weldental and RevitaBite, say "hydroxyapatite" without a number. A missing number does not mean a bad product; it means an uncheckable claim.

Why the milligram number matters
"Contains hydroxyapatite" is a category claim, not a quantity. Without the milligram amount, a piece could carry a formulation-relevant dose or a homeopathic dusting, and the label would read identically. The dose is the single number that connects a product to the ingredient research, and it is the single number most brands in this category leave out.
One honest caveat cuts both ways: a published dose proves checkability, not effectiveness. The only clinical trial ever run on a hydroxyapatite chewing gum, Porciani et al., Journal of Clinical Dentistry, 2014, used 12 mg of calcium hydroxyapatite per stick, two sticks three times daily, and measured dentin hypersensitivity. Its gum, dose and chewing protocol differ from every product in the table above, ours included, and no brand in this category has run a clinical trial on its own finished gum. Anyone implying otherwise is selling.
Crait's 70 mg is more milligrams than Minvelle's 5.7 mg, and that comparison is still meaningless: non-nano hydroxyapatite consists of far larger particles that act differently at the tooth surface, while nano particles have vastly more surface area per milligram. Compare doses within a particle class. Across classes, the honest statement is simply: both brands let you check, seven do not.
How to check any brand yourself in sixty seconds
Open the brand's product page and use your browser's find function for "mg". If hydroxyapatite is the headline ingredient and no milligram amount appears anywhere, that is your answer.
Some brands publish particle size (nanometers) or purity (percent) instead. Useful, but neither answers how much mineral one piece delivers. Do not accept a nanometer number as a substitute for a milligram number.
A brand that knows and stands behind its dose answers in one mail. Evasive answers ("proprietary", "clinically balanced") are data too. If a brand discloses publicly, the database reflects it within 48 hours.

Is a higher milligram dose better?
Nobody can honestly claim that. The one clinical gum trial (Porciani 2014, 12 mg calcium HAp per stick, six sticks daily) measured sensitivity, not remineralization, on a product unlike anything sold today. No finished-product dose-response exists. A published dose proves the brand can be checked; it does not rank products.
Can I compare nano and non-nano doses directly?
No. Particle class changes surface area and behavior at the tooth. Compare within a class; across classes, compare disclosure instead.
Why do most brands not publish the number?
Supplier confidentiality, fear of comparison, and the commercial reality that the category claim sells without the number. The effect is the same regardless of motive: the claim cannot be checked.
